Alerting: the responsible person knows at once.

When a value exceeds its limit, the system notifies immediately by push, email or webhook. Escalated by responsibility, so the message reaches the right person.

From limit to message

An alert is only useful if it reaches someone who can act.

  1. Limit detectedA measured value leaves its defined range, or a site goes offline.
  2. Notified immediatelyBy push, email or webhook to the responsible party, including your own systems.
  3. Escalated in stagesThe alert goes to the person responsible according to their role.

From practice: a phone call instead of an overlooked email

For the lighting monitoring of an outdoor advertising company in Berlin, we built the alerting ourselves, from the circuit board to the phone system.

  • Phone call, SMS and emailThe central server alerts the responsible person by phone call, SMS or email.
  • Connected to the phone systemThe server is connected to the client's phone system. A call is hard to miss, while an email easily gets lost in the on-call inbox.
  • Escalation by situationThe escalation logic decides which channel is used, based on the time of day and the importance of the site.
  • The box monitors itselfThe firmware checks its own function and reports in regularly. That way even a silent failure is noticed.
