# Mileage that updates itself

> Read the odometer once, then the system keeps counting with every trip. Each trip is tied to the vehicle's mileage, so gaps stand out.

You enter the mileage once. After that, every recorded trip updates it. No more reading the odometer before and after each trip.

Mileage Fleet

- **Start:** read the odometer once
- **Then:** updated with every trip
- **Per vehicle:** its own reading
- **Report:** mileage per day

## Why the running total helps

- Every trip is tied to the odometer: Every trip is linked to the vehicle's mileage. Gaps stand out instead of carrying on unnoticed.
- Calculated on the road: The total is updated with the [road kilometres](https://1x1it.de/en/workorderagent/flottenmanagement/strassenkilometer/) of the trip, not the straight-line distance.
- Multiple vehicles: Each vehicle keeps its own reading. Trips are assigned to a vehicle and a driver.
- In the report: The PDF report shows trips grouped by day with mileage, start and destination address, business partner and purpose.
