# ArtCraft for businesses: free AI image studio assessed > ArtCraft is an open-source studio for AI images and videos. What it can do, what it costs and what businesses should check before using it. Cutting out product photos, swapping a background, turning a photo into a short video scene: until now that took expensive creative software or an agency. ArtCraft is an open-source program that does such tasks with AI. We looked at what it offers small businesses. ArtCraft AI studio - **Type:** create and edit images and videos with AI - **Licence:** open source (Apache 2.0) - **Systems:** Windows, macOS, in the browser - **Program:** free - **AI compute:** credits by subscription, from US$10 a month - **Status:** version 0.41, September 2026 ## What ArtCraft is ArtCraft is a workspace for AI images and videos. Instead of typing a sentence and hoping for a usable result, you compose the scene yourself: layers, cut-outs, figures, camera angle. The AI then renders the finished image or video. The program is developed openly on GitHub and may also be used commercially. - **Remove and replace backgrounds:** A product or person is cut out and placed in a new setting, for example a workpiece in front of a neutral background for the online shop. - **Compose images in layers:** Several cut-outs can be layered and masked as in an image editor, and the AI blends them into a coherent picture. - **Stage scenes in 3D:** A simple 3D model is created from a photo. Figures can be posed and the viewing angle chosen freely before the image is rendered. - **Short videos:** ArtCraft creates short video clips from images and scenes, for social media or a product presentation, for example. - **Many AI models in one program:** ArtCraft bundles models from several providers, including Nano Banana (Google), GPT Image (OpenAI), Seedance (ByteDance) and Kling. You pick the right model per task without needing a separate account for each. ## What it costs The program itself is free. You pay for the compute of the AI models, via a monthly credit allowance from the vendor. According to the pricing page (as of 25 Oct 2026, list prices in US dollars, sometimes discounted): - Basic, $10 a month: 1,000 credits; according to the vendor enough for around 250 images with Nano Banana or about one minute of video with Seedance 2.0. - Pro, $35 a month: 3,750 credits. - Max, $60 a month: 6,600 credits. - Without a subscription: If you already have your own compute or subscriptions with other services, the vendor says you can use them. Extra credits are also available as a one-off purchase. The subscription can be cancelled monthly. ## What businesses should check first - **Images are rendered in the cloud:** The AI models run at their providers, mostly in the USA and China. What you upload leaves your computer. For product photos that is usually fine. Photos of customers, staff or confidential documents do not belong there until it is clear who processes the data and how. As of this article we did not find a dedicated privacy policy on getartcraft.com. - **Not yet at version 1.0:** ArtCraft is at version 0.41 and changes quickly. Features are added, and individual models are disabled at times. Plan for that in daily work. - **Rights to the result:** The program is open source, but the terms of the respective AI model also apply to the images you create. If you use images in advertising or on packaging, you should know the terms of the model used. Labelling AI-generated content under the EU AI Act is part of that too. - **Prices in US dollars:** Billing is in US dollars via a payment provider. Your accounts need a proper invoice from the vendor; check that before the first purchase. ## Our assessment For businesses that occasionally need product images, social media graphics or short clips, ArtCraft is an inexpensive way in: no costly software subscription, low cost per image and more control over the result than with text prompts alone. A small test with non-sensitive images, such as product photos, makes sense. If you want to process personal or confidential images, first clarify which model processes the data and where. The AI models’ compute costs money, either via the vendor’s credits from US$10 a month or via your own subscriptions with other services. ### Does ArtCraft work offline? To generate images, ArtCraft uses AI models at their providers on the internet. Without a connection, no new images can be rendered. ### Which computers does it run on? There are ready-made versions for Windows and macOS and a browser version. On Linux it can be built from source. ### May we use it to create images for our advertising? In principle, yes. What counts are the terms of use of the AI model that generated the image.
